2013 AFCA Division III All-America Team
WACO TX - Johns Hopkins senior offensive tackle Armand Jenifer (Teaneck, NJ/Bergen County Academies) has been named to the prestigious American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III All-America Team for the second consecutive year it was announced on Monday. Jenifer is one of just two players nationwide to earn a repeat selection to the team and becomes the first player in school history to twice earn AFCA All-America honors.
Unlike many All-America teams, the AFCA All-America Team consists of just a first team offense, first team defense and three specialists. There are no second team, third team or honorable mention selections.
Jenifer started all 11 games this season at right tackle for the Blue Jays and led an offense that set school records for points (40.5) and yards (500.6) per game in rolling to a fifth consecutive Centennial Conference title and third straight appearance in the NCAA Playoffs. Johns Hopkins averaged 260.9 yards rushing and 239.7 yards passing and is one of just three teams in the nation that averaged more than 260 yards rushing and 230 yards passing this season (Mount Union, Heidelberg).
Jenifer's selection to the AFCA All-America Team adds to his already impressive list of honors this season. He previously earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors for the third straight year and First Team D3football.com All-South Region honors for the second consecutive year.
Jenifer was also named a Fourth Team D3football.com All-American a year ago and his selection as a First Team All-South Region selection again this year has him on the ballot for All-America honors from that organization again this year. The D3football.com All-America Team will be announced later this week at the Stagg Bowl.
Johns Hopkins finished the 2013 season with a 10-1 record under the guidance of head coach Jim Margraff. Jenifer and his classmates depart with a four-year record of 38-7. The 38 wins are tied for the most in school history by one class.
