Jenifer, Cranston Land Additional All-America Honors

Dec. 21, 2013

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins football team was well represented with the announcement of two additional All-America Teams on Friday. Senior tackle Armand Jenifer was named a First Team AP Little All-American and was a Second Team All-America pick by D3Football.com, while senior center Ben Cranston earned First Team All-America honors from D3football.com.

Jenifer's selections adds to a post-season awards haul that ranks among the finest in school history. In addition to the two selections noted above, he previously earned All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association, All-South honors from D3football.com and All-Centennial Conference honors for the third consecutive year. Jenifer is Johns Hopkins' first AP Little All-America selection since 2003, when safety Matt Campbell earned second team honors.

Cranston, who was recently named the NCAA Division III Rimington Award winner as the nation's top center, becomes the first center in school history to earn First Team All-America honors. He also previously earned First Team D3football.com All-South, First Team All-Centennial and Capital One Academic All-District honors.

With Jenifer and Cranston leading the way, the Johns Hopkins offense set school records for points (40.5) and yards (500.6) per game this season on the strength of a balanced attack. The Blue Jays averaged 260.9 yards per game on the ground and 239.7 yards per game through the air and scored at least 24 points in all 11 games this season.

Under the guidance of head coach Jim Margraff, Johns Hopkins posted a 10-1 record, won a fifth straight Centennial Conference title, advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the third straight year and was ranked in the top 20 throughout the season.
