COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's track & field team dominated from start to finish Friday and Saturday en route to capturing its third consecutive Centennial Conference title in convincing fashion. The Blue Jays set conference championship records for most points scored (231) and margin of victory (139).

Hopkins won 10 of 18 events to finish well ahead runner-ups Muhlenberg and Haverford, who tied for second place with 92 points.

Junior Emily Swenson took first place in both the shot put and pentathlon to earn outstanding field performer of the meet honors. Swenson shattered her own conference record in the shot put with an impressive mark of 13.57m. Teammate Alana Merkow took second in the event with a throw of 12.49m.

Swenson broke the Hopkins record in the 60-meter hurdles on her way to winning the pentathlon, turning in a time of 9.49. The junior finished with 3,185 points, as teammates Kristin Spera (2nd - 2,838 points) and Paige Marsh (4th - 2,749 points) were just behind.

Freshman Imoni McCorvey also took down her own conference record in strong fashion with a leap of 11.74m in the triple jump to place first overall. McCorvey's previous record was 11.44m.

Hopkins received individual wins from seniors Annie Monagle and Kristen Spera. Monagle turned in a time of 2:15.29 in the 800-meter run to edge two-time defending champion Sheena Crawley of Franklin & Marshall. Spera, meanwhile, won the long jump with a leap of 5.15m, as the Jays placed first, third and fourth in the event.

Freshmen Megan McDonald and Hannah Oneda turned in gold medal winning performances, as well. McDonald won by a tenth of second in the 400-meter dash (59.73), while Oneda crushed the 3,000m field in a time of 9:55.75.

The Jays incredible depth showed in the relays, as they won the 4x200, 4x400 and distance medley, while setting a program record with a second place finish in the 4x800.

Finally, freshman Brynn Parsons was exceptional in the sprints, taking second and third in the 200m and 60m, respectively. Parsons turned in a program record time of 8.00 in the prelims, and also set the Hopkins freshman record in the 200m in a time of 26.66.

Hopkins will compete in the ECAC Championships next weekend as it prepares for the NCAA Championships in Naperville, IL on March 8 and 9.
