LANCASTER, PA - The Johns Hopkins football team, which will carry an 11-0 record into this week's second round NCAA Playoff game at Hobart, placed 12 players on the 2014 All-Centennial Conference Football Team, which was announced today. In addition, to the 12 All-Centennial picks, the Blue Jays also had senior defensive end Michael Longo (Scarsdale, NY/Iona Prep) named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year, while Jim Margraff earned Coach of the Year honors for the third time in four years.

Of the 12 players named to the team, 10 earned first team, one earned second team and one grabbed honorable mention status. The 10 first team selections ties the school record (2011).

Margraff has guided the Blue Jays to a school-record 11 wins thus far with a sixth straight Centennial Conference title and four consecutive appearance in the NCAA Playoffs. He became the winningest football coach in Maryland state history earlier this season and sports an overall record of 178-82-3 (.683) in his 25th season at Homewood. He previously earned Centennial Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and 2012 and he is the first coach in league history to earn the award three times.

The Blue Jay defense led the way with six first team selections in Longo, senior defensive tackle Michael Rocca (Westwood, NJ/Westwood), junior linebackers Keith Corliss (Blue Bell, PA/Germantown Academy) and Brady Watts (Tigard, OR/Tualatin), senior safety Ryan Rice (Frisco, TX/Wakeland) and sophomore safety Jack Toner (Western Springs, IL/Benet Academy).

Four Johns Hopkins offensive players landed a spot on the first team in junior linemen Rowan Cade (Shaker Heights, OH/University School) and Colin Egan (Chadds Ford, PA/Bishop Shanahan), sophomore wide receiver Bradley Munday (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) and sophomore running back Stuart Walters (Charleston, SC/Academic Magnet).

Rounding out the Blue Jays' 12 selections were senior offensive lineman Kyle Flynn (Highland Heights, OH/ND-Cathedral Latin), who earned second team honors, and senior quarterback Braden Anderson (Great Falls, VA/Langley), who earned honorable mention status.

Longo is the sixth Johns Hopkins player to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors and this is the second straight year he has earned First Team All-Centennial honors. He currently ranks third on the team in tackles (49) and leads the team in tackles for losses (13.5) and sacks (10.0) and also counts two pass breakups and one fumble recovery to his credit. In his career he has 139 tackles, 33.5 tackles for losses and 22.5 sacks.

Rocca makes his first appearance on the All-Centennial Team as he is enjoying the finest season of his career. Rocca is tied for fourth on the team in tackles (42) and counts career highs of 7.0 tackles for losses and 5.0 sacks to go along with four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one blocked kick. He also recently recorded the 100th tackle of his career (101) and has 15.0 tackles for losses and 10.5 sacks in his career.

Corliss and Watts form one of the top linebacker tandems in the Centennial Conference and both are making their first appearance on the All-Centennial Team. This is just the second time in school history that Johns Hopkins has had two linebackers earn First Team All-Centennial in the same season (Taylor Maciow & Adam Schweyer in 2012).

Corliss leads the team in tackles (76) and has 2.0 tackles for losses, two pass breakups, one interception, one fumble recovery and added a blocked extra point in Johns Hopkins' 24-16 win over Rowan in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs.

Watts is tied for fourth on the team in tackles with 42 and has 7.0 tackles for losses, one sack, three pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble on the year. He is quickly closing in on the 100-tackle mark for his career as he will enter this week's game at Hobart with 94 to his credit.

Rice and Toner form what is easily the best safety tandem in the Centennial Conference. This is the first time since 1996 that Johns Hopkins has had two defensive backs earn First Team All-Centennial in one season.

Rice, who made the move to safety this season after three years as a standout at cornerback, has 28 tackles, four pass breakups, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery to his credit. This is Rice's third selection to the All-Centennial team as he earned second team honors in 2012 and first team honors in 2013. He is Johns Hopkins' active career leader in interceptions (6) and pass breakups (16).

Toner established himself as one of the top young defensive players in the Centennial Conference this season. He ranks second on the team in tackles (59), leads the team in pass breakups (8) and interceptions (3) and has two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery on the year. Toner is the first sophomore defensive back at Johns Hopkins to earn First Team All-Centennial honors since Michael Milano in 2009.

Egan and Cade anchored an offensive line this season that counted four new starters and had to replace three First Team All-Centennial selections. Egan, the only returning starter, holds down the right guard spot and is flanked by Cade at right tackle. They have fueled an offense that is averaging 38.7 points and 441.1 yards per game. The Blue Jay offensive line has also allowed just seven sacks on the year and the selection of Egan and Cade marks the fourth straight year that JHU has produced two First Team All-Centennial offensive linemen.

Walters is also making his first appearance on the All-Centennial Team. He leads the team in rushing (671) and is tied for second on the team with seven rushing touchdowns. In addition, he is averaging 27.1 yards per kickoff return (eight for 217 yards), has eight receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns and ranks second on the team in all-purpose yards (965). Since the formation of the league in 1983, Walters in the 12th Johns Hopkins running back to earn First Team All-Centennial honors.

Munday has emerged as one of the top young wide receivers in the Centennial and is the first sophomore wide receiver at Johns Hopkins to earn first team honors since Dan Wodicka in 2011. Munday currently leads the team in receptions (56), ranks second in receiving yards (741) and touchdown catches (6), is averaging 35.2 yards per kickoff return and has a team-best 966 all-purpose yards. Munday's selection marks the 15th consecutive year that at least one Johns Hopkins wide receiver has earned All-Centennial honors.

Flynn is in his first season as a starter at left tackle and is making his first appearance on the All-Centennial Team. Like Egan and Cade, he has helped pave the way for an offense currently averaging 38.7 points and 441.1 yards per game. The Blue Jay balance is demonstrated by the breakdown in passing (233.5) and rushing (207.6) yards per game and the line has allowed just seven sacks in 11 games.

Anderson has done a tremendous job in his first season as a starter as he is 193-of-286 (.675) for 2,404 yards with 23 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 405 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns. His 23 touchdown passes are one shy of the Johns Hopkins single-season record, while his 32 overall touchdowns responsible for (rushing + passing) are a school record. His selection marks the fourth time in five years that Johns Hopkins has had its quarterback earn All-Centennial honors.
