BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins football team jumped up one spot to number eight in both the AFCA and D3football.com Polls and ranks third in the Lambert Meadowlands Poll this week. The number eight ranking in the AFCA Poll is tied for the highest in school history, while this is the first time Johns Hopkins has been ranked as high eighth in the D3football.com Poll. The Lambert Poll debuted on October 13 and JHU has been ranked third in all four releases of that poll this season.

The AFCA and D3football.com Polls are both national rankings, while the Lambert Poll is a ranking of teams in the East.

Johns Hopkins improved to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the Centennial Conference with a 42-14 victory at Ursinus on Saturday. The win was the Blue Jays’ 19th straight in the regular season and 17th straight in the Centennial Conference.

The Blue Jays, who have won five straight Centennial Conference titles, can secure no worse than a share of a sixth straight title when they travel to Franklin & Marshall (5-3, 4-3 Centennial) on Saturday. A Johns Hopkins win coupled with a Muhlenberg loss against Ursinus would also give the Blue Jays the outright league championship. Johns Hopkins will also secure the Centennial’s automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs with a win at F&M.
