Dec. 29, 2014 BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins is ranked 10th in the final AFCA and D3football.com Polls of the 2014 season it was recently announced. The Blue Jays finished the season with an 11-1 record, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs and won a sixth consecutive Centennial Conference title this season. The 11 wins are a school record and the NCAA appearance was the fourth straight for Johns Hopkins.
The number 10 ranking from the AFCA is the second-highest final ranking for Johns Hopkins in this poll; the Blue Jays were ranked eighth in the final AFCA Poll of the 2009 season. This marks the fourth consecutive year and the fifth time in the last six years that Johns Hopkins has finished in the top 20 in the final AFCA Poll. The Blue Jays have been ranked in the top 25 by the AFCA every week since the start of the 2011 season.
The final ranking of 10th from D3football.com is the highest ever for Johns Hopkins in this poll. Previously, the highest Johns Hopkins had been ranked by D3football.com in the final poll of a season was 11th in 2009. The Blue Jays have been ranked in the top 25 by D3football.com every week since September 17, 2012.
Under the guidance of head coach Jim Margraff, the Blue Jays capped the most successful four-year run in school history with this season's 11-1 record. Johns Hopkins is 41-5 with four Centennial titles and the four trips to the NCAA Playoffs since 2011.
