EMMITSBURG, MD - Johns Hopkins got a combined 13 goals from seniors Taylor D'Amore and Sammy Cermack and sophomore Dene' DiMartino en route to a 17-2 win over host Mount St. Mary's Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action. The Blue Jays improve to 2-0 on the season while the Mount drops its season opener.

The Blue Jays got a pair of quick goals from D'Amore and DiMartino to take a 2-0 lead in the game's first 76 seconds. Hannah Gutcher got the Mount on the board when she scored off a dump pass from Lindsay Diaz to cut the deficit in half at the 26:05-mark. Sophomore Erica Matz got her first of the season at 20:43, cradling a pass from D'Amore and then firing it home to stake Hopkins to a 4-1 lead.

DiMartino then scored back-to-back goals just 65 seconds apart to push the lead to five with 12:35 to play in the half. Senior Sammy Cermack followed with back-to-back goals of her own, the second coming on a man-up free position shot, and Hopkins led 8-1. Diaz ended the Blue Jays' run with a free position goal of her own at 1:44 but D'Amore would have the final say of the half. D'Amore got her defender caught up in the crease behind the goal, turned and fired a shot over Rurkowski's shoulder from in tight with just 14.1 seconds to go and gave JHU a 9-2 lead at the half.
