LANCASTER, PA - The top-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team shutout host Franklin & Marshall, 9-0, in Centennial Conference (CC) action Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays earn their school-record 10th straight win to start the season and improve to 2-0 in the CC. The Diplomats see their four-match win streak snapped as they fall to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Sophomore Kara McDonough and freshman Savannah de Montesquiou did not drop a game in an 8-0 win at third doubles over Emily Gruenberg and Rachel Weinstein. Freshmen Anna Kankanala and Amanda Soo Ping Chow were 8-5 winners at second over Megan FitzMaurice and Dana Sleeper. The closest match came at first, where juniors Kaitlin Pfisterer and Macie Wilkins beat Caitlin Rummelsburg and Anya Sahaydachny, 8-6.

McDonough continued to roll in singles play as she blanked Allysan Breece at sixth 6-0, 6-0. Pfisterer clinched the win for the Blue Jays at second with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Sahaydachny. Montesquiou also won in straight sets as she beat FitzMaurice 6-3, 6-0 at fourth. Kankanala won her first set 6-3 at first and then pulled out the second set by a 7-6 (5) score over Rummelsburg. Wilkins and Soo Ping Chow each won in third-set superbreakers. Wilkins dropped her first set 6-4 but battled back to win the second 7-5 and then took the superbreaker, 10-4, to take the match. Soo Ping Chow won her first set easily, 6-1, but Gruenberg took the second, 6-4, to force a deciding set. Soo Ping Chow would take the superbreaker 10-4 to take the win.

Hopkins is right back in action as the Blue Jays host the Dickinson Red Devils on Wednesday, April 2. The CC match is slated for a 3:30 pm start.
