Top-Ranked Johns Hopkins Shuts Out Dickinson, 9-0

BALTIMORE, MD - Host and top-ranked Johns Hopkins shut out Dickinson, 9-0, in Centennial Conference women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays remain undefeated at 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the CC, while the Red Devils slip to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the league. Hopkins, which has now won 73 straight regular season conference matches, lost three games in doubles and swept the singles matches in straight sets.

Freshman Jody Law and sophomore Olivia Kasten gave Hopkins a quick 1-0 lead with an 8-1 win at first over Madeline Altholtz and Shannon Lavery. Juniors Kaitlin Pfisterer and Macie Wilkins turned in the same score in their defeat of Sydney Diamond and Claire Stoner at second. Freshmen Anna Kankanala and Amanda Soo Ping Chowwrapped up singles with an 8-1 win at third over Sarah Cantor and Madison Parks.

Kankanala was the first one off the court in singles as she pushed the Blue Jays lead to 4-0 in the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win at second over Diamond. Soo Ping Chow dropped just one game in clinching the win for Hopkins at sixth. She beat Dominique Hedderich 6-0, 6-1. Wilkins won her first set 6-4 over Parks at fourth and then cruised to a 6-0 win in the second set. Fields also won her first set 6-4 and then lost just one game in the second set of her win over Joana Nunes at fifth. Senior Abby Clark beat Lavery 6-4, 6-3 at first for her 38th career win, moving her into a tie for 10th in school history. Pfisterer closed out the match with a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 win over Altholtz at third. Pfisterer trailed 5-2 in the second set but won five straight games to take the match in straight sets.

Hopkins returns to the court on Saturday, April 5 as the Blue Jays travel to Atlanta to take on the third-ranked Emory Eagles. The non-conference match is slated for a 9:00 am start.
