YORK, PA - Senior Brad Wenzel hit a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 10th with two outs to bring in two runs, as York came from behind to top Hopkins 6-5 Monday afternoon. After tying the game in the top of the ninth with two outs, Hopkins went ahead in the 10th after an RBI single from senior Richie Carbone brought in freshman Tommy Mee from second base. The Jays couldn't hold on in the bottom of the inning, as a throwing error and two singles allowed the Spartans to load the bases. The slap single from Wenzel capped a 3-for-4 day at the plate for the senior, and handed Hopkins its third walk off defeat in the last five games. York moves to 23-7 with the win, while Hopkins drops to 18-13 on the season with the loss.

York took its first lead of the day after Senior Andrew Hersey and Wenzel doubled and singled to get on with no outs. A fielder's choice allowed Hersey to score from third, before sophomore RHP Colin Friedman got out of the inning.

The Jays immediately answered in the top of the second, as a two out single from junior Jake Rogers gave Hopkins its first base runner of the game. Freshman Conor Reynolds knocked his second triple of the year in his ensuing at bat past the centerfielder to score Rogers from first and even the game at one.

Hopkins got it done with two outs again in the top of the fourth, after senior Mike Denlinger and Reynolds singled to put two men on. Freshman Ryan Orgielewicz made his at bat count, smacking a double down the left field line to bring in both runners and put the Jays up 3-1.

York answered with a two run inning of its own in the fifth, as Colbe Herr and Stephen Miele both notched RBI singles to even the game at three. York would add another run in the seventh, and were three outs away from a win heading into the ninth.

With one out, Reynolds was hit by a pitch to give Hopkins life. After Orgielewicz flied out, Reynolds stole second and advanced to third on a past ball to put senior Frank Schiff in position to knock in the tying run. Schiff sliced a ball down the middle, giving the shortstop no chance at a throw to bring in Reynolds and tie the game 4-4 to force extras.

Hopkins looked alive again in the 10th, after Mee singled to center and was sacrificed over to second. In his first at bat of the game, Carbone hit a single to shallow left field just out of reach of a diving York outfielder, giving Hopkins the go ahead run.

A costly error proved to be the difference, as Colin Porter reached to leadoff the 10th inning and eventually score for the Spartans.

JHU will return to Centennial Conference action tomorrow when the team travels to face Washington College in Chestertown, MD for a 3:30 pm game.
