WESTMINSTER, MD - The sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team did not drop a single game in defeating host McDaniel, 9-0, in Centennial Conference action Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the conference while the Green Terror fall to 3-10 and 0-7 in the CC.
Hopkins opened with a sweep of the doubles, playing the minimum 24 games, to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the match. Junior Olivia Kasten and freshman Megumi Chen beat Maddy Simmons and Tori Simmons at first. Freshmen Sunaina Vohra and Caroline Greydak earned the win at second over Laura Penhallegon and Nina Breece. And at third, junior Kara McDonough and sophomore Amanda Soo Ping Chow defeated Nicole Arnold and Angie Johnson.
The Blue Jays then swept the singles matches in straight sets, playing the minimum 12 games per match. Chen won at first over M. Simmons while Vohra beat T. Simmons at second. Greydak topped Winsome Schauer at third and Kasten was a winner over Danielle Cloney at fourth. Soo Ping Chow defeated Dana Waskiewicz at fifth and McDonough beat Leesa Malczewski at sixth.
Hopkins is back in action on Saturday, April 18 as the Blue Jays will play a pair of split squad matches. Hopkins will send a team to Atlanta to play second-ranked Emory. JHU will also play Muhlenberg in conference action at home at 11:00 am.
