June 1, 2015 2015 Sporting News Division III Football Preview / Top 25 / Preseason All-Americans BALTIMORE, MD -- The Johns Hopkins football team won't open the 2015 season for three more months, but the Blue Jays are already making news with a number 11 ranking the Sporting News Preseason Top 25 and a preseason All-America selection for senior guard
Colin Egan from the Sporting News as well.
Johns Hopkins posted an 11-1 record, won a sixth consecutive Centennial Conference title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs last season. The 11 wins are a school single-season record and the Blue Jays ended the 2014 season ranked 10th in both the AFCA and D3football.com polls.
Egan is the latest in a long line of standout offensive linemen produced by Johns Hopkins. He earned First Team D3football.com All-America honors last season, when he also grabbed First Team D3football.com All-South, First Team All-ECAC South, First Team All-Centennial and First Team CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District as well. He was one of just three non-seniors to earn First Team D3football.com All-America honors on offense last season.
Johns Hopkins will open the 2015 season on Saturday, September 5 when the Blue Jays travel to Ashland, Virginia to take on Randolph-Macon. The Blue Jays' 10-game schedule includes five games at home, including matchups with Muhlenberg (9-2 in 2014) and Ursinus (7-3). The Mules are ranked 22nd in the Sporting News Preseason top 25 and finished one game behind JHU in the final Centennial standings last season.
