Sept. 27, 2015 LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins sophomore defensive end Keonte Henson (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) had been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his effort in the Blue Jays' 49-28 victory over Muhlenberg on Saturday. This is the first time Henson has been honored by the Centennial Conference.
Henson posted eight tackles, including three for losses and two sacks, and added two forced fumbles as Johns Hopkins rallied from a 28-21 third-quarter deficit to win. Henson and the Blue Jay defense allowed a touchdown on Muhlenberg's opening drive of the second half, then forced turnovers on four of the Mules' next five possessions to help seal the victory. Johns Hopkins turned those four turnovers into 14 of their 28 points during a game-ending 28-0 run.
Henson, whose eight tackles against Muhlenberg were one shy of his career high (set a week earlier in a 45-23 win at Moravian), ranks third on the team in tackles (25) and leads the team in tackles for losses (5.0), sacks (2.5) and forced fumbles (2) through four games.
Johns Hopkins, ranked eighth in last week's AFCA Division III Poll, improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference with the win against Muhlenberg. The Blue Jays have won 25 straight regular season games and will travel to Juniata (1-3, 0-3 Centennial) on Saturday, October 3 to close out the first half of their schedule.
