The Game: Johns Hopkins opens the 2015 season as the Blue Jays travel to Ashland, Virginia to take on Randolph-Macon. This will be the 12th meeting between the two teams since 2002 and the 38th overall meeting in series history.

A Look Back: Johns Hopkins posted an 11-1 record, won a sixth straight Centennial Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the fifth time in six years last season.

Poll Position: Johns Hopkins earned top 20 preseason rankings in three polls. The Blue Jays were ranked 11th by the Sporting News, 17th by Lindy's College Football and 13th by D3football.com.
The first AFCA Poll of the 2015 season will be released in late September.

Against the ODAC: This week's game against Randolph-Macon will be the 31st for Johns Hopkins against a team from the ODAC since head coach Jim Margraff took over in 1990. The Blue Jays are currently 21-9 against ODAC teams under Margraff's direction, including 8-3 against the Yellow Jackets.

For Openers: Johns Hopkins is 15-9-1 in season-openers under head coach Jim Margraff and the Blue Jays have currently won 12 of their last 16 openers.

Road Openers: Johns Hopkins is 15-10 in its first road game of the season under head coach Jim Margraff.

JHU Sets Victory Record: Johns Hopkins posted an 11-1 record in 2014 to break the school record for victories in a season. Only five times previously - 2003, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 - had Hopkins won 10 games in a season. Johns Hopkins had never won more than seven games in a season prior to 2002, but the Blue Jays have posted eight or more wins 11 times in the last 13 years.

Centennial Conference Champions: Johns Hopkins claimed its record 10th Centennial Conference title last season with all 10 championships coming since 2002. JHU's 10 CC titles are one more than Dickinson and Muhlenberg have accumulated. Even more impressive? Hopkins' was the last team in the league to win its first title (2002), but the first to get to 10 championships.

Returning All-Centennial Jays: Johns Hopkins was well represented on the 2014 All-Centennial Conference Football Team as the Blue Jays produced the league's Defensive Player of the Year in senior Michael Longo, the Coach of the Year in Jim Margraff, a school-record-tying 10 First Team All-Centennial selections and 12 overall selections to the team.
Of those 12 All-CC performers, seven are back in 2015. Below is a look at Johns Hopkins' returning all conference players:

Rowan Cade (OL) - First Team
Keith Corliss (LB) - First Team
Colin Egan (OL) - First Team
Bradley Munday (WR) - First Team
Jack Toner (DB) - First Team
Stuart Walters (RB) - First Team
Brady Watts (LB) - First Team

Centennial Favorites: For the seventh consecutive year and the 10th time in the last 12 years, Johns Hopkins was selected as the favorite in the league's preseason poll of coaches and SIDs.
The Blue Jays received 17 of 20 first-place votes and totaled 161 points to out-distance Muhlenberg, which checked in at number two in the poll with three first-place votes and 144 points.

Sweet September: Johns Hopkins enters the 2015 season having won 19 straight and 22 of its last 23 games in the month of September. The only team to beat JHU in the month of September in its last 23 games? Randolph-Macon, which posted a 41-37 win over JHU on September 11, 2010.

More September: Johns Hopkins has not lost a home game in the month of September since September 22, 2007, when Moravian escaped Homewood with a 44-41 victory. Since then the Blue Jays have won 13 straight at home in September.

Margraff Holds State Record: Johns Hopkins head coach Jim Margraff became the winningest college football coach in Maryland state history with a 42-14 win at Ursinus last season (November 1, 2014) as that gave him 175 career victories, a mark he upped to 178 with a win against Rowan in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs.
Margraff now sports a career record of 178-83-3 (.680) entering this week's game at Randolph-Macon.

Germano or Nunn Look to Extend Streak: Either senior Will Nunn or junior Jon Germano will get the start this week at Randolph-Macon. Regardless of which gets the nod, they will be starting the first game of their career.
The last seven Johns Hopkins quarterbacks making their first career start all fared well as each came up with victories; those results are listed below:

Shane Kibbe - RMC (2006), W/21-14
Michael Murray - Muhlenberg (2006), W/10-7
Max Islinger - McDaniel (2007), W/31-3
Tyler Porco - St. Lawrence (2008), W/34-3

Robbie Matey - Muhlenberg (2011) - W/27-17
Braden Anderson - RMC (2014), W/42-3

On a Roll: Johns Hopkins is 43-1 in its last 44 regular season games dating back to late in the 2010 season. The only team to top the Blue Jays duirng that run? Franklin & Marshall, which topped the Blue Jays, 14-12, in 2012.

On A Roll, Part II: Johns Hopkins is 46-5 in its last 51 games overall since late in the 2010 season. Four of the Blue Jays' five losses during that time have come in the NCAA Playoffs.

At Home at Homewood: Johns Hopkins has parlayed its home field advantage into victories in recent years. In fact, the Blue Jays are 26-3 in the home blacks since the start of the 2010 season.

Sustained Success: Since the start of the 2002 season the Blue Jays sport a 112-33 (.772) record. Taking it back farther the Blue Jays are 118-36 (.766) since the start of the 2001 season and 123-41 (.750) since the beginning of the 2000 season.

Seven's Heaven: Since the beginning of the 2003 season the Blue Jays are 103-24 (.811) when scoring more than seven points and 0-7 when they have been held to seven points or less.
