Germano Named Centennial Offensive Player of the Week

Oct. 30, 2016

LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins University senior quarterback Jonathan Germano (Hawthorne, NJ/Bergen Catholic) has been named the Centennial Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 42-7 win at Ursinus on Saturday, October 29. This is the second time this season that Germano has earned the award and he shares the honor this week with Gettyburg wide receiver Ty Abdul-Karim.

Germano was 21-of-35 for a career-high 443 yards and a personal-best six touchdown passes in the victory against the Bears. His 443 yards are tied for the fourth-best total in school history and his six touchdown passes, which went to four different receivers, are one shy of the Johns Hopkins single-game record. Germano's previous career high of 332 passing yards came in a 30-24 victory at Muhlenberg earlier this season, while his previous high of five touchdown passes came in a 52-17 victory at Randolph-Macon in the 2015 season opener.

On the year, Germano is now 173-of-270 for 2,239 yards with 20 touchdown passes. His 20 touchdown passes, 2,239 yards and 173 completions all rank among the top 10 single-season totals in school history, as do his six, 200-yard passing games and three, 300-yard games. In addition, his 2,504 yards of total offense this season also ranks in the top 10.

Germano also reached a pair of career milestones at Ursinus as he became just the second Johns Hopkins quarterback to reach 50 career touchdown passes, while his 443 yards pushed him past 5,000 career passing yards (5,269); he is the sixth Blue Jay quarterback to throw for 5,000 or more yards.

Johns Hopkins (8-0 7-0 Centennial) improved its Centennial Conference (35 games), regular season (39) and October (23) winning streaks with the win at Ursinus. The Blue Jays can secure an unprecedented eighth consecutive Centennial Conference title and the league's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Playoffs with one win in their final two games. The Blue Jays travel to Franklin & Marshall (6-2, 5-2 CC) on Saturday, November 5 before closing the regular season at home against McDaniel on November 12.
