Nov. 13, 2016 LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins University senior quarterback Jonathan Germano (Hawthorne, NJ/Bergen Catholic) has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after he led the Blue Jays past rival McDaniel, 48-28, Saturday afternoon.
Germano was 27-of-31 for 326 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for a score in the victory. The 326 yards are the fourth-highest total of Germano's career, while his 331 yards of total offense is his sixth-best total. His three touchdown passes boost his career total to 61; he is just the second Johns Hopkins quarterback to throw 60 or more touchdown passes and he is one of just six Centennial Conference quarterbacks to reach the mark.
On the year, Germano is now 218-of-332 for 2,820 yards with 26 touchdown passes. His 26 touchdown passes (2nd), 2,820 yards (3rd), 218 completions (5th), 332 attempts (4th) and 3,203 yards of total offense (3rd) all rank among the top five single-season totals in school history, as do his eight 200-yard passing games (T2nd) and four 300-yard games (2nd). Most impressively, Germano ran his career record as Johns Hopkins' starting quarterback to 21-1 with Saturday's win against the Green Terror.
Johns Hopkins (10-0 9-0 Centennial) completed its fourth consecutive undefeated regular season and grabbed the outright Centennial Conference title for the sixth consecutive season with Saturday's victory. The Blue Jays earned the Centennial Conference's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Playoffs and will learn their first round opponent when the bracket for the 2016 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs is announced later today (6 pm) on ncaa.com.
