Hopkins Draws Randolph-Macon in NCAA Football Playoffs

BALTIMORE, MD -- The seventh-ranked and undefeated Johns Hopkins (10-0) football team will host Randolph-Macon (9-1) in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs it was announced Sunday evening. The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 19 at Homewood Field - kickoff is set for noon.

The winner of the Johns Hopkins-Randolph-Macon game will play the winner of the Hobart-Mount Union first round game on Saturday, November 26. The location of that game will be announced on Sunday, November 20. The other half of the Johns Hopkins bracket features Alfred hosting Bridgewater St. and Western New England hosting Husson.

Ticket Information
Tickets for the Johns Hopkins-Randolph-Macon game will go on sale 90 minutes before kickoff. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for youth, Johns Hopkins and Randolph-Macon students and senior citizens. Kids two and under are free.

How They Got Here
Johns Hopkins earned the Centennial Conference's automatic bid to the playoffs, while Randolph-Macon won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the league's accompanying automatic bid. These were two of the 25 automatic bids awarded in the 32-team field.

Series History
This will be the 39th all-time meeting between Johns Hopkins and Randolph-Macon with the Blue Jays holding a 21-16-1 advantage. The teams have met 12 times since 2002 and had met in four consecutive seasons prior to 2016. Johns Hopkins has won four straight, six of the last seven and nine of the 12 games played since the rivalry was renewed in 2002; prior to 2002 the teams hadn't met since 1968.

Playoff History
Johns Hopkins is making its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Playoffs and the eighth appearance in school history; all eight trips have come since 2005. Highlighting the Blue Jays' seven previous appearances was a run to the 2009 NCAA Quarterfinals and second-round showings in 2012, 2014 and 2015. This will be the fifth consecutive year that the Blue Jays host a first round game.

Randolph-Macon is making its third appearance in the NCAA Playoffs, including the second under the direction of current head coach Pedro Arruza, who previously led the Yellow Jackets to the tournament in 2008.
