ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Johns Hopkins wrestling team opened the dual-meet portion of its 2016-17 season with three matches at the United States Naval Academy on Sunday. The Blue Jays dropped decisions to Navy Blue (40-8) and Navy Gold (42-8) and also fell to perennial Division III power Delaware Valley (34-9).

Cavallo, Vallis Win a Pair: Johns Hopkins got a pair of victories to start the matches against both Navy squads. Sophomore Ricky Cavallo scored a 15-0 technical fall victory over Jordan Denslow and junior Christian Vallis followed with a 10-8 win over Ricky Bryant against Navy's Blue team. Both scored major-decision victories against Navy Gold as Cavallo topped Noah Sirianni (14-3) and Vallis added an 11-1 victory over Christian Swensen.

Forman Wins 50th: Senior co-captain Jared Forman notched the 50th win of his career in the loss to Delaware Valley as he knocked off David Furmato, 9-2, at 174. Forman's win was the third of three straight for the Blue Jays against the Aggies as junior Tommy Grifa grabbed a 3-2 decision in overtime at 157 and sophomore Dane Morgan followed with a 3-2 win at 165.

What's Next: Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, November 12 when the Blue Jays travel to Ursinus to take part in the Bears' annual Fall Brawl.
