BALTIMORE, MD- Dickinson used a 12-0 run late in the second quarter to take an eight point halftime lead and ultimately beat the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team, 55-44, Wednesday night in Goldfarb Gymnasium.
The Red Devils (14-9, 10-7 CC) trailed by five after one quarter, but their run in the second gave them an eight-point lead over the Blue Jays (11-13, 8-9 CC) at halftime. Helen Roberts scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to pace Dickinson.
In the second half, Hopkins was able to cut the Devils' lead to four points on five different occasions, but were never able to get closer. A layup from Janay Smith cut it to four for the final time with 6:10 remaining, but the Devils closed out the contest on an 11-4 run to clinch the victory and sweep the season series against the Jays.
Beatriz Williams was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with team-highs in points (11) and rebounds (nine). Liz Tommasi had six assists to tie her career high.
The Jays will close out their regular season Saturday, when they travel to Chestertown to take on Washington at 2:00pm.
