The Short Story: Johns Hopkins won its fifth straight game Monday, defeating visiting Widener 10-7 on Babb Field. The Blue Jays trailed 6-4 heading into the home half of the seventh when they struck for three runs to take the lead. Hopkins scored three more in the eighth to add insurance to its lead. Ross Lazicky and Alex Ross pitched well out of the Blue Jays bullpen combining to allow just one run in 2.2 innings.
Ryan Orgielewicz led the way offensively for Hopkins, finishing 3-for-3 with a single, double and a triple. The junior had a chance to complete the cycle in the bottom of the eighth when he hit a sacrifice fly that was caught the wall. Mike Smith, Raul Shah and Tommy Mee all finished 2-for-4 at the plate, and Mee and Brian Lin each hit home runs in the victory.
