Sept. 19, 2016 BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins junior place-kicker Jamie Sullivan has been named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 29-21 win over Moravian on Saturday (September 17). This is the first time in Sullivan's career that he has earned the award.
Sullivan, who shares the place-kicking duties with senior Nick Campbell, hit a 50-yard field goal late in the third quarter that extended the Blue Jay lead to 22-6. Sullivan also hit an extra point and handled all kickoff chores in the victory. His previous career long was 39 yards.
Sullivan's 50-yard field goal is the third longest in school history and just the sixth in the history of the Centennial Conference from 50+ yards. On the year, Sullivan is now 2-for-2 on field goals and 7-for-8 on extra points. He ranks eighth in school history in career field goals (11) and seventh in career points by a kicker (106).
Johns Hopkins improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference with the win against the Greyhounds. The Blue Jays will return to action on Saturday, September 24 when the Blue Jays travel to Muhlenberg for a key conference game against the Mules (3-0, 2-0 CC).
