• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins field hockey team closed out a three-game homestand on Wednesday night with a 5-0 loss to fifth-ranked Salisbury. The Blue Jays got a combined 24 saves as they suffered just their second loss of the season.
How it Happened
• Salisbury got on the board just 8:52 into the game when Natalie Wilkinson put in the rebound off a save by junior Greta Helvie. Exactly six minutes later, Wilkinson sent a pass across the mouth of the cage to Emily Lemanski, who tipped it in at the left post to give the Sea Gulls a 2-0 lead. • Salisbury pushed its lead to 3-0 with 17:35 to play in the half as a third different Sea Gull got in the scoring column. Annah Brittingham hit a long ball at the top of the circle and Abbey Shobe redirected it past Helvie at the right post. • Catherine Sweeney made it a four-goal game at the 31:22-mark when she put home a hard pass from Rachel Domanico. Sweeney got her second of the night with just 1:55 to play in the game as she put back the rebound off a Jodie Baris save to close out the scoring.

Inside the Box Score
• Junior Greta Helvie finished with a season-high 12 saves in the first half for the Blue Jays. Freshman Jodie Baris, making her first career appearance, came on at the half and made nine saves.
• Junior Francesca Cali made a career-high three defensive saves, including two back-to-back. Her three D saves are also one shy of the school single-game record. She now has seven career defensive saves, which is tied for seventh in school history.
