BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins safety Jack Toner has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 30-24 win at 24th-ranked Muhlenberg last Saturday. Toner is the first Johns Hopkins player to be named to the team this season.
Toner posted five tackles and two interceptions in the win over the Mules. His two interceptions both came in the final minute of the game and both came in the end zone, including one on the final play of the game.
Toner, a Second Team D3football.com All-American in 2015, now has a team-high four interceptions on the year and ranks fourth on the team in tackles (28). His two interceptions against Muhlenberg boost his career total to 14, a mark that is tied for fourth in school history.
Johns Hopkins is currently 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays, who are ranked eighth in this week's AFCA Poll and ninth in the D3football.com Poll, will put their 35-game regular season winning streak on the line on Saturday, October 1 when they welcome Juniata (3-1, 2-1 CC) to Homewood Field. Kickoff for the game between the Blue Jays and Eagles is set for noon.
