How it Happened

McDaniel responded with a 7-0 run to gain its lone lead of the game, 11-10, with 1:04 remaining in the first quarter. Madison McGrath and Rory Cole each made a basket in the final 39 seconds to regain the JHU lead, 14-11 at the end of the first quarter.
• The Blue Jays limited the Green Terror to just five points in the second quarter, extending out to a 32-16 lead at the half. Corcoran knocked down another three-pointer just 14 seconds into the second quarter, setting the pace for Hopkins. The Blue Jays posted 16 unanswered points in a run capped by another trey from Scott, giving JHU a 30-11 lead with 4:34 remaining in the second quarter. A McDaniel three-pointer and buzzer-beater cut the Hopkins lead to 16 at the break.
• The teams traded baskets to begin the third quarter before the Blue Jays pieced together another double-digit run, featuring three baskets by Scott as well as layups from Cole and McGrath. Hopkins earned its largest lead of the game, 48-20, with 2:58 remaining in the third quarter. The Green Terror stopped the bleeding again with a three-pointer, but a basket from Janay Smith and a pair of free throws from Lexie Scholtz in the final 26 seconds returned the JHU lead to 52-25 at the end of the third quarter.
• McDaniel used a 6-2 run in the first 2:24 of the fourth quarter to cut the Blue Jays' lead to 54-31, but Hopkins stayed in the game as the teams traded trips to the free throw line.
