FREDERICKSBURG, VA - The 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to 17th-ranked Trinity (TX) on the first day of Mary Washington's Blue-Grey Invitational. The Blue Jays slip to 1-3 with the loss, while the Tigers improve to 9-6.
Johns Hopkins trailed just 2-1 at the end of the doubles competition as Jody Law and Caroline Greydak pulled an 8-5 win in the number two spot; Trinity grabbed the team points at first and third doubles with identical 8-6 wins.
The Tigers pulled away for the victory by grabbing straight-set victories at second, fourth, fifth and sixth singles. Law dropped a tough three-setter (4-6, 6-3, 4-10) in the number one spot, while Greydak also fell in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 8-10) at number three.
The Blue Jays will continue action at the Blue-Grey Invitational on Saturday when Hopkins takes on Bates at 9 am.
