• The Short Story: The 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team opened Centennial Conference play with an 8-1 win at Dickinson on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Senior Anna Kankanala and sophomore Kimberly Zou won 8-3 at first doubles over Joana Nunes and Madison Parks.
• Freshman Sophia Strickland and sophomore Chrissy Simon beat Lauren Altschuler and Olivia Shea, 9-7, at second.
• Junior Sunaina Vohra and freshman Prerna Singh defeated Lydia Fox and Jaclyn Baum, 8-2, at third.
• Strickland dropped just one game as she beat Altschuler at first singles. Zou also won in straight sets as she beat Nunes 6-3, 7-6 (0) at second.
• Vohra prevailed in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (2) at third over Parks. Simon also lost just one game in her win over Shea at fourth.
• Kankanala needed just 14 games to beat Madeleine Kuhns-Balone at fifth 6-2, 6-0. Fox picked up the Red Devils only win as she beat Singh 6-2, 6-1 at sixth.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 22-10 all-time against Dickinson and has won 19 straight in the series.

For the Record
• Senior Anna Kankanala moved into a tie for 17th in school history with her 69th career win. She now has 37 career singles wins and 32 career doubles wins.
