• The Short Story: Host and 18th-ranked Mary Washington jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and held on for a 6-3 win over the Johns Hopkins women's tennis team Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
• The Eagles swept the doubles matches to take the early 3-0 lead on the Blue Jays. Ashley Barrow and Kait Brogan, the second-ranked doubles team in the region, beat freshman Anjie Kashyap and sophomore Stophia Strickland, 8-3, at first.
• Caroline Mosberg and Rachel Summers, ranked ninth in the region, earned an 8-4 win over junior Kimberly Zou and freshman Dhanya Asokumar at second. Danielle Mirabella and Brittany McBride defeated junior Katie Gauch and freshman Margo Gerke at third.
• The teams then split the singles matches with the Blue Jays winning at second, third and sixth. Strickland came from behind to beat Summers 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 at second. Brogan won in three sets at first over Kashyap 6-4, 2-6, 10-2.
• At third, Zou lost just four games in her win over Mosberg 6-1, 6-3. Hannah Jabusch beat Asokumar 6-4, 7-5 at fourth. Mirabella won 6-1, 6-3 over Guach at fifth and senior Chrissy Simon grabbed a 6-3, 6-4 win over Rachel Cooper at sixth.

• Hopkins slips to 9-11 all-time against Mary Washington with the Eagles winning two of the last three meetings.
