• The Short Story: The 20th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team remained unbeaten in Centennial Conference play with an 8-1 win over host Franklin & Marshall Wednesday afternoon.
How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped on top of F&M with a sweep of the doubles matches to grab the early 3-0 lead. Juniors Chrissy Simon and Katie Gauch needed the minimum eight games to beat Emma Wu and Stefana Vujinovic at third doubles.
• Freshman Anjie Kashyap and sophomore Sophia Strickland earned an 8-3 win over Allison Wolters and Sarah Haas at first. Junior Kimberly Zou and sophomore Prerna Singh closed out doubles with an 8-6 win over Gavriel Rubenstein and Alex Collins at second.
• Strickland lost just one game as she defeated Haas 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Zou then secured the win for the Blue Jays as she did not lose a game in her win over Rubenstein at third.
• Gauch grabbed a 6-3, 6-1 win over Wu at fourth and Kashyap defeated Wolters 6-3, 6-3 at first. With the match decided, the final two matches were played in eight-game pro sets. Simon lost just one game in her win over Collins at fifth, 8-1. And at sixth Alex D'Angelo picked up a point for the home team with an 8-5 win over Singh.
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 18-19 all-time against Franklin & Marshall and has now won 14 straight in the series.
• The Blue Jays run their Centennial Conference regular season win streak to 117 matches.
• Zou moved into a tie for 18th in school history with 35 career singles wins while Simon is tied for 25th with 32 career wins. Zou is also now tied for 23rd with 34 career doubles wins and tied for 20th with 69 total wins.
