BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's soccer program earned its first preseason national ranking of the 2018 season, as the United Soccer Coaches rank the Blue Jays sixth overall in Division III.Â

The number six ranking marks the 11th time since 2003 that Johns Hopkins has been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll. The Blue Jays drew a program-best number three ranking in the 2012 preseason poll. The Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications office uses the coaches poll to reflect the Blue Jays' official national ranking.

Hopkins posted its 22nd consecutive winning record in 2017, going 18-3-3 as JHU went a perfect 10-0 during the Centennial Conference regular season while advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 13th consecutive year. Johns Hopkins made its sixth trip to the Elite Eight last season and improved to 25-13-3 all-time in NCAA Tournament action with its run to the fourth round.

The Blue Jays were tops in the Centennial in a number of offensive categories last season, including goals (62), and points (160). Â JHU also ranked tops in the conference with 14 shutouts, allowing an average of 0.61 goals-per-game.

Johns Hopkins will open up the 2018 season on Friday, August 31 when the Blue Jays travel to Pittsburg, PA to take on Washington & Lee in the Carnegie Mellon Tartan Cup. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
