The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule at the 2018 Loyola Invitational.

How it Happened
• The invitational was played as a "Points of a Compass" tournament where two players formed a team and played four matches. The teams squared off in doubles before playing two singles matches. The team that won the best-of-three round advanced. The losing pair moved to the consolation bracket. Other schools participating were host Loyola, Mount St. Mary's and George Mason.
• Freshmen
Sophie Saland and
Lillian Oliver dropped their opening match to Megan Smith and Hannah Davis (Mount St. Mary's), 2-1. The pair then lost in the consolation quarterfinals to Christine McCarthy and Marium Raza (George Mason), 3-0. Their weekend ended with a 2-1 loss to Julia Thompson and Kendall Kutner (Loyola).
• Sophomore
Dhanya Asokumar and freshman
Anya Gunewardena won their opening match 2-1 over Thompson and Kutner. The pair then fell in the quarterfinals, 3-0, to Sydney Green and Brianna Gibbs (George Mason). In the North bracket, Asokumar and Gunewardena beat Abby Decker and Sandra Aguiree (Loyola), 2-1. They then lost to Smith and Davis, 3-0, to finish in sixth place.
• Sophomore
Margo Gerke and freshman
Meg Chien lost their opening match to Alexa Quintinilla and Taylor Cook (Mount St. Mary's), 3-0. The pair then lost to Hannah Yang and Rachel Lee (George Mason), 3-0, in the consolation quarterfinals. In the South bracket, Gerke and Chien beat Mia Pittman and Emma Blake (Mount St. Mary's), 2-1. They followed with a 2-1 win over Thompson and Kutner to finish in 13th place.
• Junior
Sophia Strickland and freshman
Evelyn Chang lost their first match, 2-1, to Hannah Harrod and Jackie Nannery (George Mason). In the consolation quarterfinals, the pair beat Pittman and Blake, 3-0. Senior
Katie Guach and Chang then won 2-1 over Yang and Lee to advance to the ninth-place match. They lost that match, 2-1, to Kayleigh Hahn and McCarthy.
