WESTMINSTER, MD – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team earned a sweep of McDaniel and Gettysburg Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action at the Gill Center on the McDaniel College campus. The Blue Jays erased deficits of 14-3 and 20-6 to score a 23-20 win over the host Green Terror, then jumped to leads of 12-0 and 20-10 before holding off the Bullets, 23-21.
The Blue Jays improve to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference with the two victories.
Against the Green Terror
The Blue Jays dropped three of the first four bouts to fall behind 14-3 and were down 20-6 after the Terror got a first-period pin at 165. From there, the Blue Jays won the final four bouts with two crucial bonus-point victories fueling the late rally.

Miles Gilliam tech fall of Quinton Lyons at 197 knotted the match at 20-20 heading into the 285-pound bout.
There, sophomore

The Bullets were within 12-10 after back-to-back wins at 141 and 149, but Hopkins had a 10-point lead at 20-10 after
Dominick Reyes (157) and
Dane Morgan (165) both scored wins by major decision.
Gettysburg sandwiched major decision wins at 174 and 197 around a 6-0 win by Morales at 184 for Johns Hopkins to send the match into the 285-pound bout with JHU leading 23-18.
Behaeghel and Gettysburg senior Paul Triandafilou battled for seven minutes with a Triandafilou scoring the only point of the match with a third-period escape. The win by decision gave GC three points and accounted for the final score of 23-18.
