Justin Canedy Named Centennial Conference Field Athlete of the Week

This is the Second Week in a Row Canedy Has Been Honored by the Conference

LANCASTER, PA – Freshman Justin Canedy of the Johns Hopkins University men's track & field team was named the Centennial Conference Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row as he put together a record-breaking performance in the heptathlon at the George Mason University Patriot Games.
 
Canedy broke the JHU freshman record in the event with a score of 4,904 and currently has the second highest score in program history. The previous Hopkins freshman record holder in the event was Matt Fischetti with 4,187 points.
 
Canedy won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.06 and earned a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.92. He crossed the line in fourth in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:58.40 and registered two third-place finishes in the pole vault (3.15m) and long jump (6.78m). The Medina, OH native rounded out the event with a second-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 2.05m.
 
His point total currently ranks third in Division III, just nine points shy of second place in the country and so far his score is tops in the Centennial Conference.
 
The Blue Jays will return to action on Friday, February 1 at the NYU Division III Invitational which will be held at the Armory in New York.
