Johns Hopkins Leads Final Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup Winter Standings

Six Blue Jay Teams Total 329.25 Points

Final 2018-19 Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, OH – Johns Hopkins scored points in six sports and totaled 329.25 points to maintain its lead in the Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings at the end of the winter season it was announced today.  JHU's 329.25 points push its year-to-date total to 804.25 points, which is 60.25 points more than second-place Williams at the end of the winter.

After a record-breaking fall that saw seven Blue Jay teams qualify for NCAA Championships and total 475 Directors' Cup points, the Blue Jays used a strong winter to hold the lead entering the spring.  Following Johns Hopkins and Williams (744 points) in the top five are Washington-St. Louis (696.75), Middlebury (594.75) and Chicago (580.0).

Six Score For Third-Best Winter Season
Johns Hopkins had six of its nine winter teams qualify for the NCAA Championships this winter and score points in the Directors' Cup standings.  Only twice has Johns Hopkins accumulated more Directors' Cup points in a winter season than it did this year.  JHU totaled a school-record 375.5 points in 2014-15 and 343.5 points in 2013-14.

The 804.25 points Johns Hopkins has accumulated through the winter season ranks as the sixth-highest total for any Division III school since the program debuted.  In fact, this is only the sixth time a school has totaled more than 800 points through the winter in the 24-year history of the Directors' Cup.

About the the Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup
The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Through the course of the year, Directors' Cup points are awarded based on a school's finish in up to 18 sports – nine men and nine women – in NCAA Championships.  New to the scoring structure last year in Division III, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's basketball must be included by every school in their scoring total.  Previously, the top nine men's and women's scoring teams could be counted; now, regardless of whether a school's soccer and basketball teams qualify for the NCAAs, they must be counted.
