RIVER FALLS, WI –
Cole Rosenberger, who recently graduated from Johns Hopkins University after a standout four-year career on the Blue Jay men's soccer team, has been named Chi Alpha Sigma's National Male Scholar Athlete of the Year it was announced today. Aliyah Gustafson, a highly-decorated member of the Bowling Green women's track and field team, was the female recipient.

The National College Athlete Honor Society, known as Chi Alpha Sigma, is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1996. Chi Alpha Sigma works to recognize college student-athletes who succeed in their sport and in the classroom. In all, 114 Johns Hopkins student-athletes who graduated in May were inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma with Rosenberger earning this year's inaugural Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award.

The National Scholar Athlete of the Year award recognizes one male and one female student-athlete who have each demonstrated academic and athletic achievement, as well as service and leadership both on-campus and in the community. Nominees must be junior or senior Chi Alpha Sigma inductees who have maintained a minimum of a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) throughout their collegiate careers and demonstrated how their experiences as scholar-athletes have influenced and empowered them to be successful after graduation.

Rosenberger graduated in May with a degree in environmental engineering and a minor in applied mathematics and a 3.95 cumulative GPA.  Off the field, he spent last past summer as a Curve Governance Intern at the Exelon Corporation. Rosenberger spent the previous summer in Madrid, Spain at the WINDINSPIRE Research Program. He also served as a at tutor through Pilot Tutoring and the Johns Hopkins Center for Student Success, was named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in each of the last two seasons and grabbed First Team CoSIDA/Google Cloud Academic All-America and First Team United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America honors as a senior.

A two-time All-Centennial Conference honoree and a Second Team United Soccer Coaches All-American as a senior, Rosenberger started every game (78) of his career. He totaled six goals and seven assists while anchoring a back line that posted 41 shutouts and a .701 goals against average over the last four seasons. Â He ranked third among active players in both assists and points at the end of the 2018 season.
