Axel Whamond have been honored by the Centennial Conference for their performances in a 2-0-0 week for the Blue Jays. Quintana has been named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Whamond has been named the Offensive Player of the Week.
Whamond had a hand in four of Hopkins' seven goals on the weekend. He scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in Hopkins' 5-2 win over Washington & Lee on Saturday. The next afternoon, Whamond assisted on the game-winning goal and then added an insurance goal early in the second half of Hopkins' 2-0 win over sixth-ranked Montclair State.
Quintana anchored the defense as Hopkins won the Blue Jay Invitational championship. On Saturday, the Blue Jays held the Generals to just 12 shots in a 5-2 win. The next afternoon, Quintana led a defensive effort that held Montclair State to just 10 shots and zero goals in a 2-0 JHU win. Entering the weekend, Montclair State ranked fourth in the nation in goals per game (7.33) and sixth in shots per game (29.00).
Hopkins is back in action on Wednesday as the Blue Jays host the York Spartans. The non-conference contest is slated for a 7:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
