Annie Gutierrez was
named Centennial Conference Field Athlete of the Week it was announced this morning. Gutierrez earns the honor for the second time after being named Indoor Field Athlete of the Week exactly one year ago.
Gutierrez, a junior pole vaulter out of Coral Gables, FL, finished first in the pole vault at the Terrapin Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The junior posted a 3.45-meter vault in an event the Blue Jays dominated, grabbing the top-five spots.
Gutierrez also competed in the high jump and the long jump, placing in the top-10 in both events. The Floridian grabbed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters. She also placed ninth in the long jump, posting a 4.87-meter mark.
The Blue Jays will split up this weekend for a pair of two-day events. The Gulden Invitational takes place in Lewisburg, PA on Friday and Saturday while the George Mason Patriot Games will take place in Fairfax, VA.
