Johns Hopkins Lacrosse, STX Renew Partnership

Men’s & Women’s Equipment to be Supplied by Baltimore-Based Lacrosse Manufacturer

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins University Director of Athletics Jennifer S. Baker, along with men's and women's lacrosse coaches Peter Milliman and Janine Tucker, announced today that both Blue Jay lacrosse programs have renewed an equipment partnership with Baltimore-based manufacturer STX.  The multi-year agreement is effective immediately and calls for STX to serve as the hard-goods supplier for both teams.

STX, which was founded by former Blue Jay lacrosse All-American Richard Tucker in 1970, previously had a decades-long relationship with the Blue Jay lacrosse programs through the 2017 season.

The comprehensive agreement calls for STX to provide sticks, gloves, shoulder pads, arm guards and additional protective gear for the men's team and sticks, eye gear and appropriate protective equipment for the women's team as well.  All outward-facing equipment, including gloves and arm guards, will be customized to the Blue Jay brand and include officially-licensed Johns Hopkins marks.

In addition, the partnership includes a comprehensive marketing component that will provide STX with an extensive presence at Homewood Field.  Among the items included are on-field signage, video board inventory, program ads and other exposure opportunities around both teams.  STX will also leverage its marketing team to provide Johns Hopkins with additional exposure throughout the lacrosse world utilizing a variety of mediums, including digital and print along with its social media platforms.

Among the many professional lacrosse players who currently represent STX is Kyle Harrison, who graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2005 after leading the Blue Jays to the NCAA Championship as a senior.  He was a three-time All-American and the 2005 recipient of the Tewaaraton Award as the nation's most outstanding player.  In the virtual who's-who among STX's partnership team of athletes and programs, Harrison is its longest-tenured and most recognizable spokesperson.

Not including helmets, Johns Hopkins utilized Under Armour to provide its lacrosse equipment from 2018-20.  Under Armour, which recently announced that it would no longer manufacture lacrosse equipment, will continue to supply uniforms for both teams.  Cascade will continue in its role as the official supplier of helmets for the men's team and goalies on the women's team.
