Johns Hopkins Indoor Track & Field Coaches Bobby Van Allen and Maura Knestout were honored by the USTFCCCA it was announced this afternoon. Van Allen was named Mideast Region Men's Head Coach of the Year while Knestout was named Mideast Region Assistant Coach of the Year on the women's side.

Knestout, formerly Linde, was given the honor for the second conescutive year. The former Syracuse product is in her third season coaching the distance runners at Johns Hopkins. After having five qualifiers in her first two seasons, the Blue Jays have seven qualified runners in 2020 for this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, NC. 

Under Knestout's tutelage, the Blue Jays are currently rated as the top units in both the 3,000 and the 5,000 at the Division III level. Johns Hopkins rates second-nationally in the mile, as well. Ariel Keklak (mile), Felicia Koerner (3,000) and Rebecca Grusby (3,000) all rank in the top-five in the nation in their events. Keklak is seeded second in the mile with a qualifying time of 4:56.92. Knestout's group will have four participants in the 3,000 and two in the 5,000. 

Van Allen earns Mideast Region Coach of the Year honors on the men's side for the first time in his career. Van Allen has been named Mideast Region Coach of the Year seven times on the women's side. The 20th-year head coach's men's squad is the top team in the Mideast Region and will send six participants to Winston-Salem for NCAA's.
