LANCASTER, PA – The Centennial Conference announced the all-conference indoor track & field teams on Wednesday morning. A laundry list of Blue Jays were honored by the conference, led by
Annie Gutierrez being named Co-Outstanding Field Performer and
Bobby Van Allen earning Coach of the Year honors. Van Allen earned Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his coaching career, including his third straight.
Gutierrez was outstanding during the 2019-20 season. The junior won three events at the Centennial Championships while grabbing a second-place in the 60-meter hurdles. Gutierrez is the third Hopkins athlete to earn the honor, joining Emily Swenson and
Maya Hammonds. Gutierrez broke multiple school-records in 2020, shattering the previous pole vault record with a vault of 3.74 meters at the NYU DIII Invitational. Gutierrez also broke Hammonds' record in the 60-meter hurdles, running a time of 9.12 seconds at the Susquehanna Invitational. Gutierrez will compete in both the pole vault and the pentathlon this weekend in Winston-Salem, NC. Gutierrez adds four all-conference honors to
her first team selection in 2019 and honorable mention in 2018.
Nine different JHU athletes earned First Team All-Centennial honors in the 2019-20 season. Gutierrez led the way with three first team honors while
Helena Hall-Thomsen,
Samantha Levy &
Ashley Tyburski both picked up two first team honors. Hall-Thomsen earned gold in the 400, running to a time of 1:00.02, just beating out Tyburski for gold. The duo combined with
Hailey Sheppell and
Alexandra Damron to bring home gold in the 4x400 relay, winning by more than five seconds with a time of 4:04.49. Levy won the 5,000, outlasting teammate
Caelyn Reilly with a winning time of 17:18.72. Levy was part of the gold-medal DMR team that won by seven seconds with a time of 12:09.77. Tyburski was part of that DMR team to earn her second gold.
Felicia Koerner was the champion in the mile at the Centennials, beating Levy by just .23 seconds to earn gold.

Ella Baran (DMR) and
Rebecca Grusby (DMR) earned first team honors for JHU.
Women's Indoor earned 22 more all-conference honors in 2019-20. Tyburski (400), Levy (Mile), Reilly (5,000), Gutierrez (60H) and Hsu (Long Jump) were named to the second-team on top of their individual gold-medal performances.
Sophia Cortazzo (Pole Vault) and
Veronica Montane (Triple Jump) joined in the mix with silvers. The 4x200 and 4x800 teams took home silver medals at the event as well.
Marina Ayuso,
Claudia Sesso, Ashley Tang and
Chinaza Nwankpa made up the 4x200 team while Koerner, Levy, Grusby and
Julianna Lazzari combined to make up the 4x800 team. Nwankpa earned an individual bronze in the 200 while Damron grabbed third-place in the 400-meter. Baran and Koerner were third-place finishers in the 3,000 and 5,000 respectively. In field events,
Faith Brown (High Jump),
Miayunique South (Pole Vault) and
Kelsey Neff (Shot Put) were all named Honorable Mention all-conference choices.
Cortazzo was named to the All-Centennial Sportsmanship Team.
