Three Blue Jays Earn Academic All-District Honors

BALTIMORE, MD – Senior runners Andrew King and Vipul Bhat and junior Conner Delahanty were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, it was announced this afternoon. The honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced from June 22-25.
 
The District II region includes Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
 
The Blue Jays have now produced 25 all-district honorees and have had at least one student-athlete on the team in 11 straight years.

King is the fifth men's runner to earn Academic All-District honors multiple times. Recently, the Lutherville, MD product was named an Indoor Track & Field All-American after qualifying for NCAA's in the 3,000-meter. In the fall, King helped lead the Blue Jay cross country team to a Centennial Conference Championship, finishing fifth to earn All-Centennial honors. 

Away from the track, King has built an impressive resume. King had a cumulative 3.94 GPA while double majoring in Physics and Applied Math and Stats. The recent graduate has spent time as an intern with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. Additionally, King has worked as a Learning Assistant with the JHU Department of Physics and Astronomy and also as a Researcher with the Institute for Data Intensive Engineering and Science. 

Bhat earns the honor after posting a 3.86 GPA while earning his Bachelor's in Computer Science. Most recently, Bhat was a Medical Tutorial Participant at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He was a Software Engineering Intern for Galen Robotics and a Lab Research Assistant Intern with the Johns Hopkins Department of Pharmacology's Schnaar Laboratory. 

On the track this season, Bhat helped the Blue Jay DMR team earn a silver medal at the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships. In the fall, Bhat placed 14th at the Centennial Championships and 28th at the NCAA Mideast Regional. Bhat earned All-Conference and All-Region honors for his efforts. 

Delahanty, a junior out of Uniontown, OH, studies Computer Science and Applied Math & Stats and has a cumulative GPA of 3.81. The Lake High School product worked as a Summer Technical Intern with JHU Applied Physics Lab's Air and Missile Defense. Before that, Conner spent time as the Summer STEM Leader Intern with Bridgestone Americas Technical Center. Conner founded a web design business, Incredevelopment Web Designs. 

In the fall, Delahanty was a crucial cog in the men's cross country team that earned their best finish at NCAA's. The junior placed 63rd at the NCAA's in Louisville. Prior to that, Delahanty grabbed a second-place finish at Centennials and a 15th-place finish at Mideast Regionals.
