Box Score 3 BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins seniors
Jessica Liang and
Sophie Saland competed at the 2021 Loyola Invitational this weekend. The invitational was run as a 'Fed Cup' style tournament, with teammates competing together against other pairs in a doubles and two singles matches. Each match was worth one point with three total points available. Teams advanced forwards or backwards as a team through the draw.
"I'm really glad these two seniors got the chance to compete this weekend," said head coach
Dan Pollock. "They are working extremely hard in practice and embracing every new challenge that's thrown their way. Against an all Division I field, they continued to apply what we've been working on in practice and got valuable match experience. I'm excited to watch them both continue to grow through the fall season."
Liang and Saland won their first match, 2-1, over Loyola's Julia Thompson and Addison Kemerer. The Blue Jay duo then lost to Lafayette's Maureen McCormack and Olivia Boeckman, 3-0. Liang and Saland then fell to Jessica Bodewes and Lauren Manwiller of Loyola, 3-0. The Hopkins pair wrapped up the weekend with a 2-1 win over Loyola's Taylor Kuncl and Anna Rico.
