Competing at the Gettysburg Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon,
Ella Baran led a host of strong performances with a top-10 national time in the 800. Baran won the race by over seven seconds, finishing in 2:13.61, a time that currently ranks eighth in Division III. Baran joins
Ariel Keklak among NCAA qualifiers in the 800.
Therese Olshanski also snagged a top-10 national spot, winning the steeplechase in her first ever time running the event. Olshanski won the event by a little less than two minutes, crossing the finish line in 11:15.27. Her time currently ranks 10
th at the DIII level.
Annie Gutierrez set a new outdoor PR, breaking the program-record with a 3.74m pole vault. This ties Gutierrez's overall PR after a 3.74m vault in the 2019 indoor season. The mark currently places her fifth nationally.
Other Notable Performances
- Victoria Kadiri posted a career-best mark in the high jump, winning the event with a 1.57m mark. This topped her previous PR of 1.53m.
- Julia Zambo set a new PR in the women's hammer throw, hitting the 37.66m mark. This mark also stands as the program-record for the JHU women.
- On the men's side, Mickey Van Gieson shaved a few tenths off his 400 time, running the race in 49.35 seconds.
- Josh Derrick won the 10,000, posting a top-20 time nationally with a time of 30:54.15. The time is the 16th-best so far at the DIII level. The mark is the 10th-fastest time in program history.
- Elias Boussouf won the 400m Hurdles, crossing the finish line in a PR time of 55.04, good for 24th nationally, just outside of NCAA qualifying. Boussouf also posted a season-best time in the 100m Hurdles at 15.58 seconds. Boussouf's 400 Hurdle time is the seventh-fastest in program history.
- Tim Carlson shattered his PR in the pole vault, pushing it from 4.05m to 4.35m to win the event.
- Competing for the first time this season, Justin Canedy leapt in the top-20 in the triple jump with a 14.20m mark. That's good for 17th in Division III currently. His mark is the third-best in program history.
