Big Ten Tie-Breaker
Johns Hopkins and Michigan finished the regular season with identical records and split two games in the head-to-head series (TB1). Both teams also held the same winning percentage against all conference opponents (TB2) and had a net-0 goal differential in their head-to-head matchups due to the official tiebreaker language which awards a maximum differential of either plus-3 or minus-3 goals per game(TB3). The next tiebreaker comes down to goal differential against all conference opponents (TB4) and maintains the same maximum differential threshold of plus-3 or minus-3 goals per game. The Blue Jays and Wolverines remained tied after implementing that tiebreaker and thus the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds were determined by a coin flip (TB5) administered by the Big Ten Conference.
