COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The Johns Hopkins field hockey team is ranked third in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Preseason Poll. This is the Blue Jays' highest-ever preseason ranking and marks the second straight year they are ranked in the preseason poll.
Hopkins, which went 19-3 and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals in its last season (2019), earned 1176 points in the preseason poll. This is just the sixth time the Blue Jays are ranked in the top-five. Hopkins returns six starters, including All-American midfielder
Abby Birk, from that 2019 squad.
Six of the Blue Jays' 2021 opponents are ranked in the preseason poll, including three in the top-10 (Franklin & Marshall, Salisbury, Rowan). Hopkins is slated to open the season at home on Wednesday, September 1 against Washington & Lee at 2:00 pm.
