NEW ORLEANS - For the first time in Johns Hopkins track and field history they sit atop the USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field Rating Index. The Blue Jays have reached the number two spot in the rankings for each of the past three seasons, but have never achieved the top spot in the rankings.
So far in 2022, the Jays have 13 top-10 marks nationally.
Ella Baran sits atop the 3,000 rankings and is currently third in the mile after her performance at the Gotham Cup on Saturday,
Annie Gutierrez sits in the top-10 in four different events, including the number three pentathlon score in the nation. She sits number three in the 60 hurdles and number nine in the long jump and pole vault. Hopkins is also currently atop the charts in the Distance Medley Relay.
JHU totaled 166.47 points in the rating index, one of five teams above 100 points. Loras, Washington University, Chicago and UW-Oshkosh round out the top-five in the first poll of the Indoor season.
The Blue Jays will compete this weekend at the Patriot Games in Fairfax, VA.
