Kadiri & Baran Named Centennial Conference Athletes Of The Week

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays have swept the Centennial Conference Women's Track & Field awards it was announced earlier today. Ella Baran was named Centennial Track Athlete of the Week while Victoria Kadiri earned Centennial Field Athlete honors.

Baran and Kadiri stood out during an incredibly impressive weekend at the Gotham Cup for Hopkins. Competing in the mile for the first time this season, Baran crushed it, finishing with a time of 4:51.03, right around two seconds shy of the JHU program record. Baran ran the final 400 in 66 seconds to post an incredible time, putting her in the top-five nationally. Kadiri sits in the top-10 in a pair of events after her performance on Saturday. The sophomore sprinter/jumper won the long jump with a 5.51m mark. That number puts her in the top-10 nationally and second in the Centennial behind teammate Annie Gutierrez (5.53m). Kadiri also broke the program record in the 60m dash, just edging out teammate Marissa Hsu's record of 7.82 with a time of 7.81.

The Blue Jays are set to compete in Fairfax, VA at the Patriot Games this weekend on the campus of George Mason University.
