Box Score 3 TOWSON, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team closed out the fall portion of its schedule at the Fall Tiger Classic. The Blue Jays won all four of its matches, all against Division I competition.
Hopkins beat Morgan State, 3-2. Graduate student
Mary Beth Hurley and senior
Emily Javedan won 6-4, 6-3 in doubles, while senior
Christina Huynh and freshman
Imani Ghosh lost 6-2, 6-4. In singles, freshman
Jay Xiao lost to Asmara Rose 6-4, 6-3. Junior
Ali Bader beat Stefania Moysiadi 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (7). And freshman
Essence Wang won 6-3, 6-2 over Benten.
JHU did not lose a set in a 5-0 win over Coppin State. Ghosh and sophomore
Aya Igaki-Meader won 6-2, 7-6 (4) over A. India and Emperess Johnson. Wang and sophomore
Catharina Aufahl won by default. In singles, Huynh beat Megan Etienne 6-1, 6-1. Freshman
Niamh Harding won 6-0, 6-1 over Mackenzie Jones. Sophomore
Zoe Hsieh defeated Kenyange Kaounde 6-3, 6-0.
Hopkins earned a 4-1 win over Delaware State. Igaki-Meader and freshman
Kamila Wong fell 6-2, 7-5 to Klaudija Lisovska and Daria Jula. Ausfahl and senior
Celina Liu beat K. An-Yeung and Eva Golembiovski 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7). Xiao rallied to beat Baluck Deang 1-6, 7-6 (4) 1-0 (6). Bader and Huynh each lost just one game in their wins over Basma Raja and Ja'Nayah Pickens.
JHU completed the undefeated weekend with a 3-2 win over Hampton. Hsieh and Harding grabbed a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (4) over Zoe Walker and Sofia Sokolova in the lone doubles match. Wang came from behind to beat Mio Kozaki 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (3). Liu dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Diana Starodubtseva. Javedan lost 6-3, 6-3 to Angelina Blinova. Ausfahl picked up another win for the Blue Jays as she beat Lucia Jorrin Fernandez 6-2, 7-5.
