BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's swim team posted six top-three finishes on day two of the Thomas Murphy Invitational. Host Loyola remains in first place with 1073 points, followed by Towson (912) and Hopkins (774).
Hopkins kicked off day two with a third-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of senior

Avery Clapp and junior
Jay Heymann combined for an NCAA B time of 3:18.76. Clapp then took second place in the 100 Fly with a 49.29. His prelim time of 48.24 broke
Jeff Vitek's freshman record of 48.90 and is an NCAA B time. Junior
Reef Ide won the B final as he clocked in at 50.97.

Matthew Hartshorn followed with a second-place finish in the 400 IM. He posted an NCAA B time of 3:59.63. Sophomore
Joe Castagno finished in fourth place with a time of 4:03.40. Sophomore
Eric Ji led a trio of Blue Jays that finished in the top six in the 200 Free. Ji turned in an NCAA B and career best time of 1:40.93 to place third. Junior
Kellen Roddy took fourth (1:42.08) and freshman
Bryce Lloyd took sixth (1:42.59). Sophomore
Daniel Byrnes won the B Final with a time of 1:43.49.
Wu then won the 100 Breast as he beat the field with an NCAA B time of 54.89. Junior
Justin Limberg placed fifth with a time of 57.09 and senior
Brandon Stride placed ninth in 57.82. In the B Final, sophomore
Nathan Jin led the Blue Jays to a sweep of the top three spots with a time of 57.78. Freshman
Andrew Huang followed in second (57.91) and senior
Spencer Ryan in third (58.25).
Rua finished in third place in the 100 Back with a finals time of 50.17. His prelim time of 49.68 is an NCAA B time. Hopkins ended the night with a sixth-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. Freshman
Shawn Zhou, Ide, Rua and Heymann finished in 1:26.72.
Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, October 30 on the third and final day of the Thomas Murphy Invitational. Day three kicks off with the prelims of the 200 Back at 10:00 am.
