• The Short Story: The 22^nd-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team opened Centennial Conference play and picked up its win of the season on Saturday with an 8-1 victory over Gettysburg.
 
How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles as the Blue Jays dropped just six total games. Juniors Anjali Devireddy and Emily Javedan beat Andrea Brazyte and Gillian Rozenfeld at first. Junior Christina Huynh and freshman Aya Igaki-Meader won 8-2 at second over Julia Gowland and Sarah Guistwite. And at third, senior Jessica Liang and junior Celina Liu blanked Catherine Haley and Alex Rieg.
• In singles, junior Swati Yarlagadda and freshman Catharina Ausfahl each lost just one game in their wins at fourth and sixth, respectively. Freshman Zoe Hsieh nearly turned the same trick, losing just two games in her win over Kate Alianiello at fifth.
• Liang picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Guistwite at second while senior Sophie Saland rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (3) win at third over Rozenfeld. Brazyte grabbed the lone point for the Bullets with a close 6-4, 6-3 win at first over senior Amanda Ruci.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 22-15 all-time against Gettysburg and earns its 21^st win in the series.
• The Blue Jays extend their Centennial Conference-record conference win streak to 131 matches.
• Head coach Dan Pollock earns his first win with the Blue Jays and improves to 41-15 in his third season as a head coach.
