The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team opened the season with a 7-2 win at Washington & Lee on Saturday to give first-year head coach
Brendan Kincaid his first win with the Blue Jays.

• Hopkins grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles before winning five of six singles to complete the win.
• Sophomores
James and
Thomas Yu beat James Kurani and Will Kistler, 8-4, at first doubles. Graduate student
Vishnu Joshi and junior
Alexander Kernagis won 8-5 at second over Eli Hirshberg and T.J. Rudden. Evan Erb and Evan Brady earned a point for the Generals with an 8-2 win over junior
Andrew Tran and sophomore
Rohan Reddy at third.
• Joshi earned a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 win over Erb at first while
Thomas Yu dropped just one game in his win over Rudden at second. Reddy also won a close won as he beat Kistler 6-4, 6-4 at third.

James Yu held off Hirshberg for a 6-2, 6-7 (1), 1-0 (4) win at fourth. Brady took another point for Washington & Lee with a 7-6 (3), 3-6, 1-0 (4) win over senior
Brian Wang at fifth. Tran took a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Connor Coleman at sixth for the Blue Jays.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 11-4 all-time against Washington & Lee and has won nine straight over the Generals.
• Kincaid picks up his first win as head coach of the Blue Jays and is now 102-63 in his coaching career.
• Joshi is now tied for 14
th in program history with 45 career singles wins. He needs six wins to move into the top-10 JHU history.
